Presentation Title: CMMI for Services applied to South African Municipal Services Delivery
Presentation Summary: One of the problems facing post-apartheid South Africa is rapid urbanisation and the subsequent increase in the demand for basic Municipal Services. This increase in urbanisation coupled with the inability of municipalities to keep up with the demand for competent, reliable and quality of service delivery often lead to service delivery protests. There are 30 municipal service delivery protests per day in South Africa. Many attempts to address this issue have failed because the issues addressed do not result in the delivery of competent, reliable and quality municipal services to the majority. The development of the Naledi Demix CMMI for Services applied to Municipal Services Delivery is intended to address this problem. Several case studies will be presented to demonstrate the completeness of the model and the potential impact that it will have in the reduction of Municipal Services Delivery protests.
