Mark Burgett is a Process Improvement Manager with Truven Health an IBM Watson Health company. Truven provides health care data and analytics. It provides information, analytic tools, benchmarks, research, and services to the healthcare industry. He has over 35 years of experience in the computer industry. Most recently his focus has been in Quality Assurance roles in Healthcare. Since 2014 he has been leading Truven’s efforts to develop life-cycles, processes, measures, and excellent outcomes from projects developed using CMMI Dev 1.3 framework. Truven achieved maturity level two in December of 2015, and maturity level three in June of 2016.

Presentation Title: The Buy-In Effect: How Getting Alignment Can Get Your CMMI Adoption UnStuck
Presentation Summary: In this presentation, I offer a case study of a company in the health care industry that had gotten stuck in their CMMI adoption, and needed a turn-around. After devoting a large amount of time and resources documenting processes, the organization was not successful in their quest for an appraisal. Bidding opportunities were subsequently lost, frustration mounted, and the team stopped embracing or adopting the processes. Companies that have done a lot of work on their CMMI adoption, only to become stalled, will learn how to get unstuck and move forward on a rapid timeline toward their CMMI goals.
