Track: CMMI Appraisals: Best Practices

Presentation Title: Ins and Outs of Appraisal Team Composition

Presentation Summary: One question we get asked after having gone through three SCAMPI-A appraisals since 2009 is how to comprise the appraisal team. Specifically, other organizations are curious as to whether to use internal or external personnel. This presentation covers the pros and cons of both approaches based both on our experience and on surveys of Lead Appraisers and Sponsors from other organizations. And since we're so close to Washington, DC, I plan to allow plenty of time for the group to discuss/debate the alternatives based on their own experiences; but hopefully we can do so without invoking parliamentary procedure.
