The OU is defined as Software Function in New Development and Feature Enhancement projects in R&D Department, which the later is built upon existing products and the former is developed from ground-up. Although in a system viewpoint the hardware, mechanical, and manufacturing support are all included but only the software function is in the appraisal scope. R&D Department is responsible for system development and operation support including software, hardware, mechanical, and transitioning to manufacturing, and the appraisal scope is only applied to R&D Department's Software Function only, which means the software sub-system of the entire product (system) focusing on software application development or feature enhancement, and is integrated into system containing hardware, mechanical parts and manufacturing function by considering external interfaces to those sub-systems. R&D Department is also responsible for support functions including QA, CM, OT, and EPG.
Type of Work: There are 2 types of work: New Development and Feature Enhancement. Feature Enhancement projects are executed on the basis of existing system while New Development is not. This creates process differences in Requirement Development, System Design and Component Reuse, Product Integration and testing.
New Development: New Development projects which start from ground up without existing system but with common platform supports regarding to flow engine, user management, system log management, and some security features.
Feature Enhancement: Feature Enhancement projects which is built on existing product by modifying architecture or features.
