Project Type

OU Project

Project Description

ITP is an open architecture program that automates the test procedure processes thereby reducing time to process new and modifying existing test procedures. During test execution, ITP captures test data and out of specification comments taken by the test engineers. ITP provides surface and submarine test & evaluation (T&E) tracking, test procedure development and revision, new feature development, development of new customer requirements, plus maintenance and sustainment of the code. ITP’s support to VIRGINIA has been high performing and won a NIWC Lightning Bolt awards in 2018 and was nominated for a 2018 DoD innovation award.

Project Name

Submarine Modernization Management Module (SM3)

Project Type

OU Project

Project Description

The SM3 tool’s original objective was to automate the development of submarine modernization schedules to reduce manpower requirements and the time to develop/revise installation schedules. By downloading modernization SHIPALT data from a NAVSEA system SM3 automatically creates schedules based on the type of availability and using preprogrammed templates. The scope was expanded to automate Government task book development, integrating the developed schedules with manpower requirements and travel estimates. The tool can quantify the cost to perform modernizations and is a way to compare planned vs actual execution costs throughout the modernization availability.
