The Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) was established in July 2017, as a result of consolidating three CAS institutes: the Institute of Electronics (IECAS), the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth (RADI), and the Academy of Opto-Electronics (AOE). The merger highlights CAS efforts towards reformation of its R&D system to meet future S&T challenges. AIRCAS major researches on space earth Systems science, remote sensing and digital earth, aerospace observation platform, ground system, sensor technology and navigation technology. Include development, integration, and service of systems, such as acquisition, reception, processing, and application of aerospace information, electronics and optical devices, payload, and so on.
