The R&D Department is responsible for software development activities of projects in the organization. The company consists of around 25 people, while the OU consists of 15 staff. The OU develops all the products inside the company, no subcontractor is used. The R&D department is responsible for all project lifecycle activities: - planning including schedule, budget, and cost analysis, - requirements development including collecting customer requirements, - designing and developing software, - test planning, verification, and validation activities

Internal: The internal customers are from the company's inside. Internal Customers' requirements are common requirements that cover a defined general range of external customers. Such projects are developed for a range of possible markets and are ready to add customer-specific features to the product.

External: External Customers are the end users. The external customer-specific (end user-specific) requirements are implemented in internal customer products and passed along to the external customers
