SPEAKER PRESENTATION

From Chaos to Control: CMMI Best Practices at Work

Conference Track: Government

After failing to meet a customer deadline, leaders of the 367 TRSS decided to seek alternative approaches to their business processes. A team convened to search for project management and business improvement models to help the 367 TRSS meet customer needs and objectives. Their research led them to the best practices of the CMMI. By integrating lifecycle tasks with commercial software, and infusing with CMMI best practices, they established repeatable, standardized tasks for their business. Today, projects in the 367 TRSS begin with solid stakeholder requirements, are completed 75% on-time and with 95% quality, satisfying stakeholders to a degree never before anticipated.
