Start your CMMI^® V2.0 journey with this Foundations of Capability course.

This is the first in a series of introductory courses for CMMI V2.0 and prepares you for taking the CMMI Associate exam, which is included within the price of the course

The Foundations of Capability course is a highly interactive class in which students will learn about the core elements of the CMMI V2.0 model and how it can be used to deliver genuine business value by focusing on improving your organization's capability. The course is delivered through a combination of exercises, lectures and class discussions where model content is explored through shared experiences and real-world examples from both your instructor and your fellow students.

Successful completion of this course will give you one attempt at the CMMI Associate exam, which if passed will grant you the CMMI Associate certification enabling you to demonstrate and market your commitment to excellence in capability improvement. It is also a pre-requisite for participation on a CMMI appraisal team and provides the necessary foundational knowledge needed to go on and take one or more of the subsequent “Building Excellence” courses, which cover the use of the CMMI in the areas of Engineering and Product Development, Service Delivery and Supplier Management.

Course Structure

This is a two-day course, delivered virtually through the Zoom platform (n.b. a personal Zoom subscription is not necessary for you to participate on this course). There are no specific experience or knowledge pre-requisites for this course, but a background in, or familiarity with basic concepts of process and process improvement may be helpful.

• In accordance with CMMI Institute policy, virtual class sizes are strictly limited to 15 students.
• This course is being run in the Eastern Time zone (UTC – 5.00) and class time is scheduled to run between 09:00 and 17:30 on both days.
• The course is being delivered in English.

Virtual Course Delivery

Because this class is being delivered virtually, you will need the following to be able to participate successfully:

• Fast, stable internet connection
• Sufficient bandwidth to enable full bi-directional video conferencing
• A Laptop, desktop or tablet device with good sound and microphone capabilities

We also recommend that you have a quiet, distraction free work environment and, ideally a large display screen in order to be able to engage appropriately with the course content.

To ensure a satisfactory online setup, all students will be invited to join a brief orientation session in the week preceding the course.

Your instructor, Jonathan Dean, has over 18 years practical experience in using the CMMI to help a range of organisations improve their businesses in a wide variety of market sectors including Government, Defence, Aerospace, Financial, Telecoms and Automotive. As a certified SAFe Program Consultant, Scrum@Scale practitioner and experienced agile coach, Jonathan has a wealth of experience in implementing CMMI in both traditional and agile based organisations and can draw on this experience to help you understand the model in the context of your own business by illustrating CMMI concepts with practical, real-world examples.
