Dan Potts, Process Appraisal and Certifications Director, joined Ontario Systems in 2004 after a career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where he served clients such as Blue Shield in the commercial insurance space, Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in the credit union space, Commission on Professional and Hospital Activities (CPHA) in the healthcare space and General Motors Acceptance Corporation (GMAC) in the financing space.
Complementing his experience in information technology, systems engineering and project management Dan emerged as a leader in applying methods such as CMMI, ISO9001, SSAE-16, Malcolm Baldrige and Six Sigma to benchmark and improve organizational project management, product development, quality, engineering and process management capabilities.
He initiiated a partnership with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in 2005 and was certified as a CMMI Lead Appraiser in 2010. He has appraised numerous organizations in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa and Maryland to benchmark and mature their development capabilities.
He established a set of company-wide business controls in 2005 that endure regular SSAE-16 examinations by independent auditors. The auditors’ Service Organization’s Controls (SOC) report is sought by many of the company’s clients every year to satisfy their audit needs.
In 2009 he implemented a company-wide Quality Management System (QMS) based on the requirements of the ISO9001 standard. The company’s QMS has been registered by an independent registrar as compliant with the standard since 2010.
Dan earned a B.S. in Political Science and Systems Analysis from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. He is trained as a Six Sigma Black Belt and a Malcolm Baldrige Examiner.
