About

Michael West is a life-long practitioner and executive coach in strategic performance improvement. Michael founded NSPI in 2001, and has helped many businesses in numerous economic sectors achieve their process and performance objectives. Michael has authored two books on performance improvement, the most recent being "Return On Process (ROP): Getting Real Performance Results from Process Improvement," (Taylor & Francis, 2013). Michael is a CMMI Institute-Certified Lead Appraiser (for DEV and SVC), and is an AgileCxO-certified Agile Performance Holarchy Lead Assessor and Coach.

SAFe and CMMI Adoption in a Defense Contractor - A Case Study

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; but in practice, there is. This presentation will give the audience real, demonstrable, and proven approaches to how the CMMI V2.0 and the Scaled Agile Framework enterprise (SAFe) were adopted and implemented in the Jacobs Software Engineering Center (JSEC). This integrated approach culminated in one of the first defense contractor organization’s to have implemented a robust adoption of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) that has achieved CMMI-DEV V2.0 Maturity Level 3. In this presentation, JSEC’s Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) Danielle Linn and the organization’s Lead Appraiser Michael West will reveal insights into their key lessons from a successful integrated Agile-CMMI approach.
