Successful individuals will:

    • Demonstrate dedication and expertise to identify, evaluate and address business opportunities, risks and impacts of AI Initiatives and evaluate organizational Artificial Intelligence Maturity
    • Meet requirements to Lead CMMI AIM appraisals for Maturity Level 1 (ML1) through Maturity Level 3 (ML3), or through Maturity Level 5 (ML5) for High Maturity Lead Appraisers.

Prerequisites:

    • CMMI Practitioner Certification.
    • CMMI AIM Practitioner Certification.
    • Certified CMMI Lead Appraiser in all domains.

Candidates who do not meet OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) Compliance are not eligible.


What is included?

    • Appraising Artificial Intelligence Maturity (BAIM) 1-day instructor-led course.
    • CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser Exam credit, valid for 30 days.


How to apply?

Complete the CMMI Lead Appraiser Application at least 12 weeks before course date to allow time for processing. Please include a Cover Letter that demonstrates understanding and real-world experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) adoption.


Training & Certification Process

 

1. Appraising Artificial Intelligence Maturity (AAIM) Course

During this one-day training, learn how to use to evaluate and appraise AI maturity using CMMI AIM:

    • Effectively use the Method Definition Document (MDD) and AI Toolkit materials to plan CMMI AIM Appraisals with the CMMI® Model AIM view
    • Use CMMI® domains and content to effectively assess maturity, improve and sustain business process performance and organizational capability in AI initiatives.

Full attendance and active participation in lectures, exercises, questions and discussions are required.

 

Successful participants receive:

    • Appraising Artificial Intelligence Maturity Completion Certificate.
    • CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser Exam credit, valid for 30 days after training completion.


2. CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser Exam

This exam assesses knowledge and understanding of CMMI AIM, focused on planning and appraising AI capability and Maturity using the MDD, AI Toolkit, and the CMMI Model AIM view.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

 

I do not have CMMI AIM Practitioner certification yet, can I still apply?

Yes, Certified CMMI Lead appraisers may submit their application to become a CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser prior to completing CMMI AIM Practitioner training & certification.


What AI experience do I need for my application?

6 months experience in AI adoption, including the following concepts and capabilities:

    • Basic Artificial Intelligence terminology, e.g. Machine Learning, neural networks, deep learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP).
    • Ability to communicate AI results to non-technical audiences
    • Understand data-driven modeling and how algorithms learn patterns from data.
    • Distinguish between supervised, semi-supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.
    • Understand AI life-cycles; data sourcing, model retraining, COTS solutions and monitoring.
    • Recognize ethical, regulatory compliance, and responsible AI implications.


What happens after I submit my application?

Each application will be reviewed by the CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser application review committee.

Candidates whose application is not satisfactory will receive directions regarding their next steps.


How do I access the student materials?

These can be accessed via the CMMIinstitute.org dashboard. Student materials will be available 6 weeks before the AAIM Course.

 The CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser exam cannot be accessed without first completing the AAIM course.

How do I renew my certification?

CMMI AIM Lead Appraiser certification is valid for three years. To renew, follow steps as outlined in the CMMI Certification - Certified CMMI Lead Appraiser and Instructor Renewal Policy. Individuals are required to maintain CMMI Partner sponsorship, and good standing with CMMI, e.g., no financial or quality issues, lead appraisals in accordance with applicable CMMI Institute policies and the MDD
